Asgard 2014 Club Mark Award

Aisling Mc Keever (Swim Ireland) presenting our Club Mark to Lisa Popplewell (Club Mark Officer) and Paul Smith (Chairperson) with coaches John Kealy and John Murray.

Asgard Swimming Club has become the only club in Ireland to be awarded two Club Marks, the highest accreditation any swim organisation can achieve.

Club Mark acts as a stamp of quality for all affiliated clubs.

The Club Mark was introduced to Asgard in 2011 to  help provide support and development from Swim Ireland to assist with the club’s development. After already successfully completing a three year Club Mark development plan with Swim Ireland in 2013, Asgard has become the first Irish club to received the prestigious award twice.

Formed in 1999, the family orientated club is based in the Coral Leisure Centre in Arklow and consists of swimmers aged from 7 to 19. The club also boasts two Olympian members, head coach John Kealy and 2012 Paralympics Gold medallist Darragh McDonald.

Members come from County Wicklow and neighbouring Wexford and the Club Mark process has enabled Asgard to achieve the highest of club standards,

The club coaches, committee and members would like to thank Club Mark Officer Lisa Popplewell for all her efforts in helping to secure both Club Marks,

New members are always welcome and if you are interested in joining Ireland’s number one swimming club then visit where application forms are available, or contact

The club’s aim is to provide a friendly atmosphere in which the swimmers can achieve their full potential and develop social skills in a sporting environment that will remain with them throughout their life.
